Greater Miami Chamber Scholarships for Seniors
The
Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and its 501c3 Not for Profit organization,
the South Florida Progress Foundation are pleased to announce seven
scholarships will be awarded in three categories this spring to seniors from
Miami-Dade County Public Schools. All scholarships are limited to 12th
grade students who will be graduating this semester.
The
scholarships include;
The inaugural El Poder En Ti
Scholarships, created in partnership with NBCUniversal Telemundo
Enterprises, to recognize and celebrate academic excellence, leadership skills
and the pursuit of higher education. Five scholarships of $2,000 each will be
awarded to selected graduating seniors from a Miami-Dade County public high
school planning to pursue a career in broadcast journalism, communications,
electronic media, digital media or journalism at a South Florida college or
university.
The
2017 Jeanne Bellamy Scholarship, named for the first woman chair
of the Greater Miami Chamber in 1977-1978. A scholarship of $2,500
will be awarded to a female, high school senior from a Miami-Dade County public
high school who intends to pursue a degree in business.
The 2017 Carlos J. Arboleya, Jr.
Scholarship, a legacy scholarship in the name of Carlos J. Arboleya
Jr., son of Chamber Chairman Carlos J. Arboleya who served the organization in
its 1992-1993 year. The $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to a
male, high school senior from a Miami-Dade County public high school who
intends to pursue a degree in business.
More
information and applications for each of the scholarships are attached and are
to be completed online. Please note that all applications must be received no later than
5:00 p.m. on March 31, 2017 by
the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.
Scholarship winners will receive their scholarships in
May at their respective schools on a date to be determined by school officials.
Winners will also be invited to the Chamber’s May Trustee Luncheon on May
3 for recognition before the Chamber membership.
