The Dade County Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. has always demonstrated a commitment to the community through the promotion and advancement of educational opportunities. The Chapter has continued this commitment by providing a scholarship to a high school senior in our community.

The Dade County Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is seeking applicants for its 2016 Clara B. Knight Memorial Scholarship. Your assistance is needed in getting the information out to your seniors. The Chapter will award one (1) scholarship for $2,000.00 to a deserving student. The deadline is Monday, April 18, 2016. Enclosed are the application and the criteria for the scholarship (feel free to make copies). Please stress to the students that ALL completed applications must be received on or before the deadline.

Criteria for the 2016 Clara B. Knight Scholarship

Amount: $2000.00

1.         Applicant must be of African American background and reside in Miami Dade       County, Florida

2.         Applicant must include evidence of financial need. Examples: A copy of parents’ 2015 income tax return or a copy of FAFSA must be attached

3.         Applicant must include evidence of being accepted or having applied to a post secondary school.

4.         Applicant must have a district grade point average of 3.0 or better and attend a public school in Miami Dade County.

5.         Applicant must provide SAT OR ACT scores. Attach a copy of your original score report. (Minimum SAT 1200 or ACT 20)

6.         Applicant must attach an appropriate photograph. (Please staple and write your name and school on the back of the photograph.)

7.         Applicant must provide one letter of recommendation from either a guidance counselor or an instructor.

8.         An official copy of your transcript with the school seal enclosed in a sealed envelope

9.         A typewritten statement consisting of no more than one (1) page describing you, your goals, and your financial need. Also include community services rendered.
