The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for profit organization of more than 10,000 women of color committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the cultural and economic survival of children and families of African ancestry by focusing on service to the community.

The Links Incorporated Greater Miami Chapter is seeking applicants of African descent for our 2017 General Scholarships.  The Greater Miami Chapter will award five (5) scholarships in the amount of $3,000, to students who have excelled in scholarship and community service.   We need your help in identifying the appropriate personnel and distributing the applications to   your Miami-Dade senior high schools .

Please note that the deadline for submission of the completed application packet is Tuesday, April 25, 2017.  Questions concerning the 2017 General Scholarship and the application process may be directed to the Chairperson of our Scholarship Program, Mrs. Rosa Harvey Pratt at (305) 790 2345.

Enclosed please find a copy of the Gray Panthers of South Dade Al Afterman Scholarship Application. This scholarship is made available to high school seniors who have made a commitment towards fostering intergenerational service-learning activities.

The Gray Panthers is a national organization of intergenerational activists dedicated to social and economic justice. For over 30 years, Gray panthers have worked to make our nation one that lives up to its dreams and promises of fair and just treatment for all. Founded in 1970 by social activist Maggie Kuhn, the Gray Panthers have active networks coast to coast working for progressive change through civic engagement in communities and the nation at large.

The members of The South Dade Gray Panthers have donated money to establish yearly scholarships, in the amount of $500 each, for deserving youth who have volunteered their time towards enhancing relationships and activities that unite young people and elders in the community. We hope that you will assist us in distributing applications to students you feel meet this criterion. Scholarships will be awarded on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Gray Panthers of South Dade Membership Meeting.

Hubert O. Sibley Four-Year Florida Prepaid University Tuition Scholarship 

We are now accepting applications for 2017

Each year, 15 Four-Year Florida Prepaid University Tuition Scholarships are awarded to graduating high school students. The Hubert O. Sibley (HOS) Four- Year Florida Prepaid Tuition Scholarship began in 1995. Since then, South Florida Educational Federal Credit Union has helped hundreds of students attend college. 

As an educational Credit Union, we are proud to assist our members by sending some of them to college. The education they receive helps them embark on their chosen profession and provides them with tools they can use throughout life. 

To be eligible, seniors or their parent/legal guardian must have had a South Florida Educational Federal Credit Union (SFEFCU) account for at least one year prior to completing the scholarship application. Also, the student applicant must have a SFEFCU primary savings account (a savings account in their own name) by the application deadline. 

Hubert O. Sibley Four-Year Florida Prepaid University Tuition Scholarship applications are available during the first week of March each year. The application deadline is usually in mid-April. The specific deadline date is printed on the application each year and displayed on this website. The scholarship is awarded to the winners on the 3rd week of May, but cannot be used until the following Fall semester. Applicants not selected will not be notified.

Greater Miami Chamber Scholarships for Seniors

The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and its 501c3 Not for Profit organization, the South Florida Progress Foundation are pleased to announce seven scholarships will be awarded in three categories this spring to seniors from Miami-Dade County Public Schools.  All scholarships are limited to 12th grade students who will be graduating this semester.

The scholarships include;

The inaugural El Poder En Ti Scholarships, created in partnership with NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, to recognize and celebrate academic excellence, leadership skills and the pursuit of higher education.  Five scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded to selected graduating seniors from a Miami-Dade County public high school planning to pursue a career in broadcast journalism, communications, electronic media, digital media or journalism at a South Florida college or university.

The 2017 Jeanne Bellamy Scholarship, named for the first woman chair of the Greater Miami Chamber in 1977-1978.   A scholarship of $2,500 will be awarded to a female, high school senior from a Miami-Dade County public high school who intends to pursue a degree in business.

The 2017 Carlos J. Arboleya, Jr. Scholarship, a legacy scholarship in the name of Carlos J. Arboleya Jr., son of Chamber Chairman Carlos J. Arboleya who served the organization in its 1992-1993 year.   The $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to a male, high school senior from a Miami-Dade County public high school who intends to pursue a degree in business.

More information and applications for each of the scholarships are attached and are to be completed online.   Please note that all applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on March 31, 2017 by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.

Scholarship winners will receive their scholarships in May at their respective schools on a date to be determined by school officials.  Winners will also be invited to the Chamber’s May Trustee Luncheon on May 3 for recognition before the Chamber membership.
